In the production of Aszú wine, the principle is the contact of the Aszú grapes (affected by the fungus botrytis cinerea) and the wine or must base. This Tokaji Aszú wine contains the golden drops of the volcanic slopes of the Tokaj wine region in Hungary. The year 2017 was an excellent vintage in Tokaj, with optimal botrytis development. Botrytized Aszú berries are blended with the base must; after pressing their rich juice is fermented and aged in oak barrels for at least 36 months. A true flagship of the Tokaji Aszú range. The only sweet wine in the world, alone, with natural sugar.
Food pairing:
Excellent digestive-appetizer in itself. Perfect match with pâtés and foie gras; with poultry and white meat dishes with creamy sauces, seafood risotto and sweet and sour and even slightly spicy oriental dishes. Perfect companion for blue cheeses and lightly cured cheeses. Ideal for desserts (especially fruit-based cakes), accompanying natural fruits, quince jelly or a simple coffee.
Tasting notes:
Amber color. A garden in bloom: rose, jasmine, lime blossom, orange and apricot on the nose with incredible finesse, wrapped in the elegant freshness of the unmistakable perfume of muscatel. We notice silky sugars on the palate, vibrant and youthful for its perfect acidity, with notes of honey, sweet orange, blood orange, dominating apricot and spices. Extraordinary complexity on the palate with a very long finish. A truly satisfying experience.
